RightScale, Jaspersoft, Talend and Vertica have joined together to deliver a complete business intelligence solution in the cloud.
Jaspersoft's kicking in the compute-intensive BI software, Talend the open source data integration software, and Vertica the analytic database management system running on Amazon and orchestrated by RightScale's cloud management platform.
They call it a reference architecture but RightScale CEO Michael Crandell says it's a finished product. It's a new model for RightScale, which has only trafficked in components till now.
A base turnkey configuration will involve three servers, one for each application and tuned for best practices. Rapid deployment should save users the set-up and integration hassle.
BI remains a top IT priority despite the shrinking IT budget. The joint pay-as-you-go solution is supposed to put affordable and actionable BI in reach of virtually any company or organization.
Rightscale will cost a minimum of $500 a month for up to 20 EC2 instances plus 3.3 cents an instance hour. Jaspersoft will start at $300 a month, Talend at $495 plus $1 per instance hour and Vertica at $350 a month for 100GB.
