Optimum Solutions Unwrap PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1

Premera Blue Cross Deploys Peoplesoft Enterprise 9.1 for Business Value and System-Wide Efficiencies

"Optimum was the clear and natural choice to lead our PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 upgrade. Their long-term dedication and commitment to our continued success, as well as Optimum's outstanding track record and experience in deploying large scale, complex Oracle applications was paramount in helping Premera achieve our strategic goals. The fully integrated Talent Management capabilities in the latest 9.1 release will significantly increase the return on our PeopleSoft investment. Premera is realizing business value and system-wide efficiencies from increased operational effectiveness, improved processes, increased productivity, and reduced costs," notes Susan Hill, Senior Manager, HR Systems & Projects, Premera.

Optimum Solutions has successfully deployed Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 Human Capital Management (HCM), Financial Management, Enterprise Learning Management and Enterprise Portal applications for Premera Blue Cross, a regional health benefits company. The company also upgraded its PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools to the latest version.

Premera chose to upgrade to the latest version of PeopleSoft to help the company achieve its strategic goals, which include building and maintaining a skilled employee team that enables the company to deliver highly efficient and valuable service to plan subscribers, sponsors, and healthcare providers. Its decision was influenced by the key capabilities in PeopleSoft Talent Management 9.1, as well as the common technology enhancements for the PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.50 toolset across all business process areas, which has helped Premera to maximize process automation, increased ease of use, and minimize long term IT support overhead.

Premera expects the fully integrated PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 Talent Management Suite will lead to a significant increase in its return on investment. Premera is already realizing business value and system-wide efficiencies from increased operational effectiveness, improved processes, increased productivity, and reduced costs.

Optimum utilized its RapidSolutions Upgrade methodology, which was recently recognized by an Oracle North America 2010 Titan Award Honorable Mention in the Human Capital Management category, to bring this deployment live - on schedule and on budget.

With this latest achievement, Optimum Solutions, a Platinum level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), continues to expand its position as one of the leading implementers of Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 solutions.

Optimum Solutions originally implemented PeopleSoft HCM 8.9 for Premera in 2008, when they first chose the solution.

Optimum, Oracle and Premera will spotlight its recent success in an upcoming Premera PeopleSoft 9.1 Success Story Tour comprised of a nationwide series of executive events and conference keynote presentations beginning in March 2011.

"Our longstanding relationship with Premera and our intimate knowledge of its enterprise systems was a tremendous advantage in executing its complex Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 project effectively and efficiently. We're proud of our continued partnership, and the success of this project, as we look forward to supporting Premera's future business growth and long-term objectives," states John Doel, Senior Director of Optimum's HCM Practice.

"With a shifting regulatory landscape and an increasingly competitive market, healthcare organizations, like Premera, seek technology that increases efficiency and provides flexibility, while reducing total cost of ownership. With its broad functionality and optional feature packs, Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 delivers immediate value by giving organizations the ability to seamlessly add capabilities when they are needed," says Marc Perlman, global vice president, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Oracle.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next...

Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
