CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- EDUCAUSE 2012 Annual Conference, Denver -- Modo Labs™, the leading Mobile-First portal solution provider, today released version 2.0 of its Mobile Campus Platform. The new version includes upgraded Courses and Registrar modules that mash-up popular Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Information Systems (SIS), enabling students and faculty to access information via a single common mobile interface. Mobile Campus leverages the open source architecture of Kurogo Mobile Optimized Middleware, which supports content-rich mobile websites and native apps in hundreds of universities in over 25 countries – including Harvard, Dartmouth, Georgetown, NYU, University of British Columbia and Villanova University.
Mobile Campus 2.0 features newly integrated Courses and Registrar modules that complement recently updated Admissions and Tours modules, and further enhance the breadth of the Mobile Campus platform, which includes a Content Management System (CMS) back-end for quick content editing and publishing by any university business user. The Courses/Registrar mobile combination allows student and course information to be pulled from widely used systems such as Sakai, Blackboard and Oracle's PeopleSoft, and present in a seamless, integrated fashion to the end user. The modules are available as an addition to the Modo Labs Mobile Campus. Admissions is available as a standalone application or as part of Mobile Campus.
"We were immediately interested when Modo Labs shared the next generation of their mobile platform with us, offering our students a powerful and unified mobile interface to our LMS and SIS systems, and other vital student information," commented Santhana Naidu, Web Services Director at Indiana State University. "We've been thrilled to collaborate with Modo Labs on this exciting mobile technology."
"More than two-thirds of all higher education students own smart phones and expect to have unrestrained access to the vast array of systems on campus through the device of their choice. Modo Labs Mobile Campus Platform brings into sharp focus the power of the Oracle administrative and academic systems by providing a unified, intuitive interface for students, faculty and staff," added Cole Clark, Oracle's Vice President of Global Education and Research.
"Not long ago, university administrators asked why a student would ever want to add or drop a class from their mobile phone. Now they're asking why they can't," said Marshall Vale, Chief Technology Officer at Modo Labs. "Mobile Campus 2.0 provides universities with a complete solution to get mobile, fast."
The Community edition of the Mobile Campus Platform is available for download at http://www.kurogo.org. Publishing AppQ™-based iOS and Android apps to public app stores requires a commercial license upgrade. The full Mobile Campus suite is also available as a commercial license, and offers features and modules such as those outlined above. Contact sales@modolabs.com for more information.
