VIENNA, Va., Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- This past Saturday, Mexico's newly elected President, Enrique Pena Nieto, received Mexico's Presidential sash from former President Felipe Calderon. Later that day at the Transition of Power Ceremony in Mexico's capital city, Mexican officials and worldwide dignitaries gathered to watch him assume his new role. Along with the United States senior representative Vice President Joe Biden, MicroTech's President & CEO, Tony Jimenez, was one of the few American businessmen invited to the event.
"It's quite an honor to be one of only a small handful of U.S. business leaders invited to Mexico's Presidential Inauguration," said Jimenez. "Being able to witness former President Felipe Calderon hand his power over to President Enrique Pena Nieto and help Mexico in its IT endeavors for future growth and success is a real blessing. I am confident this new collaborative relationship will be prosperous for the United States, Mexico, and MicroTech."
The Washington Post's William Booth described the scene at the Mexican Congress saying, "..Calderon removed the green, white and red sash of office and passed it to Pena Nieto." This signified the transition of power from the 12 years of the PAN (Partido Accion Nacional) party back to the party Nieto belongs to, PRI (Partido Revolucionario Institucional), which has ruled Mexico from 1929 to 2000.
Mexico's new transition of power symbolizes their push towards new and better horizons. After he took office, President Nieto voiced his goals to help citizens rise from poverty to take their place on the international stage. He said, "We are a nation that is going at two different speeds. There's a Mexico of progress and development. But there's another, too, that lives in the past and in poverty…Mexico has not achieved the advances its people demand and deserve."
MicroTech's recent business expansion, MicroTech International, is currently working on strategic partnerships within Mexico to provide technological capabilities to the growing country in their time of ascension. Jimenez said, "This new transition will bring in a virtuous and revolutionary change for the Mexican Government and its people. Mexico's new focus on peace, prosperity, and innovation will further sanctify and strengthen MicroTech's new business expansion into Mexico."
