Features More than 40 Courses, including Several New First-Run Courses, Addressing Today's Most Complex Information Security Threats
BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS today announced new first-run training courses coming to SANS 2013 in Orlando, Florida. Included among the more than 40 courses being taught March 8 – 15, SANS has added new courses in IT audit, computer forensics, and security management.
"This is where technology is going. Cutting-edge stuff. I'm never disappointed with SANS courses and instructors," said Brian Houlihan with National Credit Union Administration.
Two new auditing courses will be offered in a unique, 3-day, back-to-back format, that will accelerate the pace of learning and vastly enhance students' skills. This unique training format is ideal for auditors and security professionals with a limited training budget or those who can only attend training once a year. The new auditing courses include:
- March 10th-12th: AUD444: Auditing Security and Controls of Active Directory and Windows
Active Directory is the 'Center' of the security universe in windows. This course provides the tools and techniques to effectively conduct an Active Directory and Windows audit, and while doing so identify key business process controls that may be missing. - March 13th-15th: AUD445: Auditing Security and Controls of Oracle Databases
After mastering attacks on networks and operating systems, hackers have turned their attention to applications and databases. This course provides all of the details, including the IT process, procedural and technical controls, that auditors should look for when conducting an Oracle database audit.
Additional new courses include:
- FOR526: Windows Memory Forensics In-Depth, 'Malware can hide, but it must run', this new course will run for the first time in 2013 at Orlando. Attendees will learn how memory analysis works through learning about memory structures and context, memory analysis methods, and the current tools used to parse system ram.
- MGT415: A Practical Introduction to Risk Assessment. Students who take this class will learn hands-on how to perform a risk assessment. This class is not just for academics, it is an opportunity for network engineers, auditors, or managers to learn the practical hands on skills necessary to performing a risk assessment for their organization.
SANS 2013 features more than 40 hands-on technical courses taught by the top security practitioners in the industry. SANS will host NetWars Tournament Play competition, an intense interactive, Internet based environment for computer attacks and defenses. NetWars will be held on March 13 and 14.
