QlikTech (NASDAQ: QLIK), a leader in Business Discovery – user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced that RWE AG, one of Europe’s five leading electricity and gas companies, is using the QlikView Business Discovery platform for ad-hoc analysis and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs). The self-service BI approach allows approximately 800 users in the company and their subsidiary to create their own analyses and reports.
Today, RWE uses QlikView in a variety of business initiatives. These include an infrastructure cockpit, various reports for the IT controlling and analysis in project management. Another focus is on the eMobility cockpit, which reports on the use of charging stations. As a result, RWE’s IT team has been impressed with QlikView’s short implementation time, ease of use, and visual interface.
A prerequisite to the QlikView implementation was easy access to the existing data sources within the RWE Group via a standard interface like ODBC, OLE, or the SAP Connector. Because RWE leverages the SAP® Business Warehouse and Business Objects, its external and internal databases include DB/2, SQL Server and Oracle. The data itself is now aggregated, consolidated, and cleaned up with QlikView.
Shared services platform for subsidiaries
To make the
subsidiaries of RWE benefit from the new opportunities with QlikView,
the IT team has set up a shared services platform. RWE is also
considering the use of QlikView on Mobile, ensuring that the KPI reports
and dashboards are available to employees on tablets.
