Mel Wesley joins Mandiant after eight years in a leadership role at OPNET Technologies, where he served most recently as senior vice president and chief financial officer until OPNET’s acquisition by Riverbed Technology in December 2012. Prior to OPNET, Mel served as corporate controller for SteelCloud, Inc., a publicly traded corporation that provides design, development and manufacturing of network appliances and infrastructure server products. Earlier in his career, Mel worked as assistant controller for Learning Tree International, Inc., a publicly traded corporation that provides training to IT professionals and managers. Mel holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from George Mason University and is licensed as a certified public accountant in Virginia.
“Mel’s experience building and managing finance teams at fast-growing, publicly traded technology companies is needed to sustain our rapid growth,” said Kevin Mandia, chief executive officer at Mandiant. “We are thrilled to have him on the team.”
Jeff Scheel joins Mandiant as vice president of business development where he is responsible for building Mandiant’s relationships with technology alliance partners and global systems integrators. Jeff also leads Mandiant’s corporate development and acquisition activities. Jeff brings over twenty-five years of experience at enterprise software and security companies in sales, alliances, corporate development and executive leadership roles. Prior to joining Mandiant, Jeff was vice president of business and corporate development for HP’s Enterprise Security Products business unit. He joined HP through its acquisition of ArcSight where he was senior vice president of business development and built alliance relationships with global systems integrators, ISVs and cloud security providers. Jeff has also held leadership roles at security and enterprise software companies including Damballa, PassMark Security (sold to RSA Security), Vocent Solutions (sold to PassMark Security), Siebel Systems and Oracle. Jeff earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with honors from Stanford University and a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
“Expanding Mandiant’s network of alliance partners is a core element of our growth strategy,” said Mandia. “Jeff has a track record of building programs that help companies scale while delivering value to partners. We’re excited to have him on board.”
