Far EasTone Telecommunications Co., Taiwan's third-largest mobile provider, unveiled a mobile commerce platform powered by technology from Seattle-based Sirqul Inc.  Called FET SoLoMo, the platform will enable developers, merchants, brands and retailers to offer customers mobile ads and digital coupons integrated into mobile apps and tailored to users' real-life habits, including their current physical location.  Read Original Content

Goodix and MStar Semiconductor, two associate companies of MediaTek, jointly took a 50 percent share of the smartphone-use touch controller IC market in China in the first half of 2013, with the ratio likely to climb to 60 percent in the second half, according to industry sources.  Read Original Content

Rumors of an Amazon smartphone have circulated for well over a year now, but a new report says the retail giant will use HTC to help it make its upcoming devices. Alibaba, China’s largest online retailer, has unveiled plans to revolutionize the country’s e-commerce sector. Alibaba intends to invest some $16 billion in logistics and support to the e-commerce field through 2020. The company believes this investment will help open up China to hundreds of millions of new customers, which could eventually translate into higher revenues for online retailers throughout China.  Read Original Content

Three cities in east China's Zhejiang Province have begun selling the country's first fourth-generation mobile phones.  Four smartphone models produced by Samsung, Sony, ZTE and Coolpad are now available for purchase in Hangzhou, Ningbo and Wenzhou, according to the local 4G-network operator China Mobile.  Read Original Content

According to Infonetics, North America and Europe are the key centers of M2M service growth, together accounting for 72 percent of the total market.
