According to Allied Research Market, the global mobile wallet market is expected to reach $5,250 billion in 2020, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 127.5 percent from 2013 to 2020.  Read Original Content

On Thanksgiving and Black Friday, retailers sent out 37 percent more push notifications on average than on a normal day during the last two months, according to IBM. Online sales transacted with mobile devices grew to 21.8 percent of total online sales on Black Friday, a 43 percent increase from Black Friday 2012. Read Original Content

In a survey of 15,000 consumers across 15 global markets, the Ovum found 68 percent prefer to use a desktop or laptop PC for shopping online, while only 20 percent use a mobile phone and just 14 percent a tablet. PayPal has launched a new service in Germany that is meant to further bolster its presence in the European mobile sector. The new service is called PayPal CheckIn and is designed to create a more personalized shopping experience for consumers. A report by email marketing services provider Yesmail Interactive found that 16 percent of online transactions driven by marketing emails took place on a mobile device. Within mobile, more than half (56 percent) of purchases originated on a tablet, and virtually all (99 percent) of the tablet transactions happened on an iPad.  Read Original Content

A survey of 1,000 UK consumers by risk-based security and compliance management solutions firm Tripwire has highlighted the insecure commerce behavior of mobile users.  A quarter of respondents said they were now willing to spend in excess of £100 (US$164) via mobile, and three percent would spend over £1,000 (US$1,640) yet 65 percent do not have any mobile security installed on their device.  Read Original Content

According to the October data from the Fiksu Cost per Loyal User Index, there was a drop of three percent throughout October. It had been $1.68 in September, and by the end of the next month, it was only $1.63. A loyal user was defined as a user who would open an app a minimum of three separate times. According to Forrester data based on a survey of more than 4,000 respondents, 31 percent of U.S. online consumers who own a mobile phone are interested in or already use mobile payments for in-store purchases, up from 18 percent in 2011.  Read Original Content

A test of the contactless mobile payments will begin this month in the London transportation system and is expected to run for two full months. It will involve the participation of 5,000 people who regularly use the Tube, the Overground, or the DLR. They will be able to tap their way into and out of the system using a bankcard implemented with NFC technology that doesn’t need to be swiped.  Read Original Content
