New Array Networks Multi-Tenant Appliance Supports Eight Fully Independent ADC Instances with Guaranteed Performance SLAs

Array Networks Inc., a global leader in application delivery networking, today announces the immediate availability of its new AVX10650 multi-tenant application delivery controller (ADC) appliance. The new multi-tenant AVX10650 supports eight fully independent ADC instances, thereby allowing IaaS providers to support multiple customers or allowing enterprises to support multiple applications on a single appliance. The new AVX10650 is the only multi-tenant ADC appliance of its kind; by allocating dedicated CPU, SSL, memory and I/O to each instance, IaaS providers can guarantee performance for each customer and enterprises can guarantee performance for each application workload.

Traditional ADCs have a single operating system, which means that any Web or application traffic traversing the system holds access to all of the memory, CPU power and SSL processing power on the appliance. The new AVX10650 allows service providers and enterprises to discontinue the old practice of dedicating one ADC per customer or one ADC per application.

Array’s AVX10650 gives IaaS providers several advantages. First, unlike multi-tenant appliances from competing ADC vendors, Array’s multi-tenant instances do not compete for shared hardware resources. As a result, cloud service providers can offer load balancing as an infrastructure service with guaranteed high-performance SLAs. In addition, service providers do not need to rack and stack and manually configure a stand-alone ADC for each new customer; new customers or workloads can instead be seamlessly spun up from an automated cloud management system. Lastly, Array’s multi-tenant ADC appliance provides considerable savings in modern data center environments where reducing space, power and cooling requirements is highly desirable.

For enterprises that rely on applications from Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and others, common practice is to deploy a pair of ADCs for each application. Array’s new multi-tenant ADC allows enterprises to instead assign a pair of multi-tenant instances for each application. In conjunction with support for VMware vCenter Orchestrator (VCO) and Microsoft System Center, AVX10650 multi-tenant appliances give enterprises a more streamlined, cost-efficient and agile path to ensuring availability and performance for business-critical applications.

“Array’s approach to multi-tenancy separates itself from its competitors by ensuring that each instance has its own dedicated hardware resources,” notes Michael Zhao, CEO of Array Networks. “Many vendors claim to support many more instances on their multi-tenant appliances; however, there is an apparent lack of controls to enforce how resources are allocated to each instance. Service providers can never truly be confident that they can offer performance SLAs because of this extremely important void in other multi-tenant appliances. The AVX10650 guarantees that the performance capability of each instance can be stated with certainty, ensuring that the appliance can be used to support demanding customers and mission critical applications.”

About the AVX10650

The AVX10650 allows for complete flexibility and adaptability per use case; each instance can support its own version of Array’s operating system and may be tuned to the needs of specific customers or applications. The AVX10650 is a 2RU dual-power appliance that supports 8 independent instances, each supporting all of Array’s APV Series load balancing and application delivery features. Each instance is supported via dedicated CPU, SSL, memory and I/O resources and supports 7Gbps throughput, 8.5K 2048-bit SSL transactions per second and 4Gbps SSL throughput. The AVX10650 is currently available for sale.

Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...

IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
