Oracle Applications Users Group Announces Creation of Young Professionals Forum

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG), the world’s largest user knowledgebase for Oracle Applications users, announced the formation of a Young Professionals Forum, a new medium for younger OAUG members between the ages of 25 and 35 to collectively discuss challenges and best practices.

The OAUG Young Professionals Forum was created to give OAUG members early in their careers a chance to network, interact and candidly discuss challenges and solutions as they relate to the use of Oracle Applications as well as to workplace in general. This forum helps younger professionals connect with the OAUG, engage with their peers and learn from guest speakers and mentors.

The group met for the first time at the COLLABORATE 14 — OAUG Forum where members of the OAUG Young Professionals Forum participated in roundtable discussions with representatives from the OAUG board of directors. Now the group will meet via conference call every two months to interact and plan future topics of discussion. In addition, forum participants will communicate throughout the year via the OAUG’s dedicated Linkedin and Twitter pages and plan to meet during COLLABORATE 15 — OAUG Forum in Las Vegas and explore other opportunities for face-to-face networking.

The forum’s next conference call is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 3 p.m. EDT to discuss Big Data, led by Sean Donaldson, CTO of Secure-24. For more information or to join the OAUG Young Professionals Forum, visit http://oaug.org/membership/young-professionals.

“This group of young professionals represents the future of the OAUG,” said Alyssa Johnson, president of OAUG. “We want to cultivate the creativity and energy in these young members, investing in the next generation of leaders. Creating this forum within the OAUG encourages these younger members to participate in the community, make connections and establish their identities here as valued members.”

IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...
