Oracle JDeveloper 10g Enhances Productivity

Oracle JDeveloper 10g, the newest release of Oracle's Java and Web services development environment, is now available. This version features Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF), an innovative "productivity layer" that simplifies application development, enabling developers of all skill levels to create J2EE applications and Web services.

Oracle JDeveloper 10g helps developers use the latest SOA development methodologies to quickly and easily assemble more efficient applications from a set of shared business services. Now, developers can create more flexible applications that seamlessly evolve with changing business requirements, such as integrating systems after an acquisition, customizing hosted applications for a new client, or expanding data collection and analysis across several strategic partners.

Developers often find they must choose between productivity and openness when selecting tools because many vendors focus their innovations on proprietary technologies that lock developers into a specific platform. Oracle continues to champion open industry standards by architecting Oracle JDeveloper 10g to use 100 percent open J2EE and Web services interfaces and supporting deployment to any J2EE-compatible application server.

Oracle JDeveloper 10g is immediately available for free download and evaluation from the Oracle developer community Web site, Oracle Technology Network, and can be purchased for $995 per named user.

I have used jDeveloper9.0.5 preview and I found it excellent in developing web applications based on the struts framework.

With the latest production release, I have gone over the tutorials found on OTN and I must say that BC4j with struts greatly simplfies the whole development process.

What is more interesting is that you can import objects from Oracle designer repository and get the work finished in jdeveloper.
